Pentax DSmobile 600 Scanner Review

A great portable scanner that weighs only 12 ounces and measures only 11 inches is the Pentax DSmobile 600 Scanner. This sheetfed scanner gets great reviews and for the price is an outstanding deal. If you need a small portable scanner that packs a pretty good punch, the Pentax DSmobile 600 Scanner is a very good choice.

Power Saving Features

The Pentax DSmobile will allow you to scan a business card all the way up to an 8.5 x 14 inch document. It utilizes a CIS (contact image sensor) to allow for it’s small size and weight and does not use nearly as much power as a CCD. In fact, in standby mode it only uses .2 watts of power and 2.2 watts when actually scanning. It also requires lower maintenance because it has very few moving parts and is extremely reliable.

This scanner utilizes a USB port so you do not need to worry about carrying around a AC adapter for power. The quality of the images on this scanner is very impressive. Optical resolution is 600 dpi and outputs 24-bit true color.

Performance

The Pentax DSmobile 600 scans very quickly and extremely quietly. This is a great feature as nobody wants a loud clunky printer when they are in a quiet office setting somewhere. It will scan a full b&w page in under 10 seconds which is pretty impressive for a portable scanner of this size. It will also allow you to continually scan multiple page documents so you do not have to scan pages individually as a PDF file.

Overall, we give the Pentax DSmobile 600 Scanner a good rating. If you are a busy road warrior and need a scanner that will travel with you wherever you go, this is a very good choice. From the reviews of users we have seen, they are also extremely reliable and will last for many years.
